Steak Salad

Yield : 2 servings 

Ingredients:

11 oz. beef sirloin steak

2 Tbs. and 1/2 tsp olive oil

1 Tbs. and 1/2 tsp red wine vinegar

2 1/2 tsp lemon juice

1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 tsp salt

1/8 tsp ground black pepper

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/4 c and 2 tsp crumbled blue cheese

3 1/4 cups romaine lettuce (rinsed, dried, and torn into bite-sized pieces)

1 tomato sliced

1 small bell pepper, sliced

1 medium carrot, sliced

4 Tbs. red onion

1 1/2 Tbs. slicked pimento-stuffed green olives 

Directions:

Steak:

Preheat grill for high heat

Lightly oil grate.

Place steak on grill and cook 3-5 minutes per side (or until desired doneness is reached).

Remove from heat and let sit until cool enough to handle.

Slice steak into bite sized pieces.

Dressing:

In a small bowl, whisk together:

  • oil

  • vinegar

  • lemon juice

  • garlic

  • salt

  • pepper

  • Worcestershire sauce

Mix in the blue cheese.

Cover and place dressing in refrigerator

On a chilled plate arrange the lettuce, tomato, pepper, onion and olives.

Top with steak

Drizzle with dressing.

Serve with a crusty grilled French bread.

My notes:  

This recipe is a variation of the original one I found.  This was a great addition to the summer salads when the weather is hot and you don't want just a basic salad.  As the cooking is done outside one doesn't add heat to the house either.
